🗿 Chichén Itzá Day Trip (with Cenote + Valladolid)
The classic big-bus pilgrimage to a New Wonder of the World, with a cenote swim and colonial Valladolid on the way home.
Wat te verwachten
- Chichén Itzá is ~180 km / 2.5-3 hours each way from Playa del Carmen — expect a 12-hour day
- Standard itinerary: guided 1.5-2 hr tour of El Castillo (Kukulkan pyramid), Great Ball Court, Temple of Warriors, then swim at Cenote Ik Kil or Hubiku, buffet lunch, 45-min stop in Valladolid
- IMPORTANT: from Feb 1, 2026 entrance taxes rose to ~1,500 MXN (~$75-80) pp — many cheap listings exclude this and collect cash on the bus
- Buffet lunch + drinks and licensed bilingual guide included on most tours
- Climbing the pyramid has been prohibited since 2008
- Cheapest promo listings ($42-60) are big 40+ seat buses with multiple hotel pickups
- Bring cash for tripod/video permits and vendor gauntlet inside the site
