🏛️ Muyil Ruins & Ancient Canal Float
Small jungle ruins plus a lazy float down a 1,000-year-old Mayan trade canal through the Sian Ka'an lagoons.
ಏನು ನಿರೀಕ್ಷಿಸಬೇಕು?
- Muyil (Chunyaxché) sits on the edge of Sian Ka'an, ~1 hr 15 min south of PDC
- Compact site: El Castillo pyramid (17 m) plus a boardwalk (~50 MXN) through mangrove to Muyil lagoon
- Boat across two lagoons, then float in a life vest down the hand-dug Mayan canal (~45 min) used for cacao/jade trade
- Site entrance ~$5; the boat+float portion sold locally at the dock ~$50-60 pp
- Almost always bundled into 'Sian Ka'an from Playa' full-day tours with lunch
- Fresh water, no sharks/crocs in the float channel; water shoes recommended
- One of the least-crowded ruin experiences in the Riviera Maya
